What is Sex Therapy?

  • Sex therapy is a specialized type of psychotherapy that addresses sexual concerns, intimacy challenges, desire discrepancies, anxiety around erectile concerns or vaginismus, and relational trauma and issues. It is evidence-informed and tailored to the needs of individuals and couples seeking clarity, connection, and sexual well-being.

  • Individuals and couples experiencing sexual challenges, intimacy concerns, desire differences, conflict, trust or infidelity issues, trauma, sexual assault, domestic violence, prenatal or postpartum mood disorders, infertility, pregnancy loss, or identity exploration often benefit from sex therapy.

  • Sex therapy sessions are collaborative, confidential, and structured. We explore emotional, relational, and physiological patterns, build communication skills, address shame or trauma, and develop strategies for reconnecting with your partner or yourself.

  • No. Many individuals seek sex therapy on their own to understand their sexual health, improve confidence, or work through trauma. Couples also attend together to enhance connection, trust, and intimacy.

  • A board-certified sex therapist has completed specialized education (150+ hours) and supervision focused specifically on sexual health. As a Board Certified Sex Therapist (Therapist Certification Association) and Certified Sexologist, I provide expert, evidence-informed care for sexual and relational concerns.

  • Yes. All sessions are confidential and provide a safe, supportive, nonjudgmental environment. Therapy focuses on understanding patterns, connecting with your body, improving communication, and creating meaningful relationships.

For clients seeking the greatest confidentiality, self-pay options are available — sessions do not require a diagnosis and are kept completely private. Insurance reimbursement is possible via a superbill, but this requires a diagnosis, which may appear on an insurance record.

  • "Life isn’t just about surviving; it’s about finding your tempo."
